“An intense light has now been focused on what we once viewed as normal, and illuminated its toxic and life-diminishing narrative.
A new story is waiting to be born, and we are its storytellers.”
We live in a time of radically converging global challenges so interdependent and resistant to traditional modes of thinking and problem-solving, they seem to render us impotent. Yet our educational, ecological, economic, and cognitive paradigms are shifting. An intense light has now been focused on what we once viewed as normal and illuminated its toxic and life diminishing narrative. A new story is waiting to be born, and we are its storytellers.
Unprecedented connectivity and the emerging awareness that our individual and collective futures are inextricably linked, now call us to create a regenerative, life-affirming and sustainable future for ALL.
We are slowly beginning to change our minds and we are running out of time. Einstein’s declaration that the thinking that created our seemingly intractable problems will not be able to solve them, has become manifest. Minds shape worlds, and our impoverished thinking has led to impoverished world-shaping.
On behalf of our children and our planet, wise world-shaping calls us to nurture the roots of what it means to be fully human:
Wholeness and a re-connection to life and the natural world.
Compassionate use of knowledge and a global commitment to human prosperity and moral action.
Commitment to ecological healing and regeneration.
Our genius lies not in predicting the future but in reimagining and re-creating it. We shape the world from the inside out and we cannot create what we have not become. Transformation is first an inside job, and now is our time.
As storytellers of a generative and life- affirming future yearning to be born, the questions we must step into and the conversations we must invite are clear:
WHAT DOES THIS TIME NOW REQUIRE OF US?
WHAT IS THE NEW STORY WE MUST LIVE AND TELL THE NEXT GENERATION?
I invite you to become a “new story” teller for this time.
